Food in Schools - a short guide for parents and carers

School meals have recently come in for a lot of attention. As the latest step to encourage healthy eating, the Government has taken a series of measures to improve the provision of food in schools. This includes the Government's recent announcement of additional funding to enable schools to spend more on lunches for pupils.

As part of the package to improve school meals, a 'toolkit' for parents has also been produced. The objective of this document is to inform parents about the nutritional standards for food in schools and how how to take action if you have concerns about the provision of food in your child's school.
